Found an excellent gem today in Entertainment Weekly We will start by an interview with series creator Ryan Murphy:

I love those guys and I did feel an obligation to stay with them — I just didn't think we could make the new deal work. It wasn't just about wanting to make more money for myself. I also wanted more money for the show. I was at a point where I was begging for extra chicken fat for the surgery scenes. A network show costs in the $2 million-plus range and we were at $1.4 million. But it ended up well. I don't think I signed the deal until last December — two months after the second-season finale. The budget's at $1.9 million now, and the network agreed to let me do movies at the same time.

Sure there was no way he could have scaled back budgetwise? Fewer high profile guest apperances probably could have helped greatly in slashing things down.

This really should bode well for the future of the show. We have all heard stories about how due to campaigning by the PTC, no matter how good the ratings, Nip/Tuck has trouble filling up advertising spots. I'm sure the execs at FX are more than happy to be funding this show on a higher than average budget, especially now that it is competiting with shows on the big networks.

This article is a double whammy, not only is it good for bashing Ryan Murphy, but also Julian McMahon, who gives excellent, insightful quotes into his character, and the show in general:

What do you want to see happen to Christian this season?
I'd like to get back to that guy who is rich and making money and having lots of sex.

What about character development? Further exploration of the inner workings of Christian Troy? Anyone who has read the spoilers for the show knows that there is going to be a lot happening to Christian during the upcoming season, yet all Julian wants is the character being the "rich guy having lots of sex." Very impressive for a Golden Globe nominated actor.

Read that Bruno's character will be bisexual! Hmmm....I'll deal with some hot guy-guy action as long as Bruno's on the screen!
From what I have seen it looks like he is in it more for the art than the fame.
No matter what he is written, I'll be expecting better acting out of him.

Even thoughh Julian has implied that he is signed on for four seasons, I still wonder if Bruno Campos is intended as some type of replacement? This is all fun to speculate and I really hope that they do not make him he carver.
Bruno's a fabulous actor--and sexy! I also hope he's not the Carver. With Julian so hot in the behind to play James Bond, Bruno could very well be the show's replacement as the resident man-whore....;)

Hey, can you tell I'm a big Bruno Campos fan? LOL!
I think you certainly are onto something. What else has Bruno Campos done or been in?

I hope the audience is willing to warm up to the character, if intended to take Christian Troy's place, which I am guessing he is. The fact that Ryan Murphy admits he was the first choice for the role of the character is a very bad sign.

But, it will certainly be a challenge making someone who is intended as a replacement for a popular character work, I hope Mr. Campos is up for it and has the acting chops to pull it off and make the character somewhat likable. Might even be nice if he did an excellent job, and winning over some of the Julian/Christian fans.

Unfortunately I have a bad feeling that if Julian McMahon leaves, the blame will be on Ryan Murphy and Bruno Campos, with the die hard Julian/Christian fans taking their frustrations out them. Once again they will fail to see how Julian ruined yet another character.
He's been on guest spots mostly. Noticed him first on "ER" a few years back as "Eddie Dorset." Hate to say most shows Bruno's been on were short-lived like "The D.A." But Bruno's a good actor. And at least Ryan Murphy's giving Bruno another chance. Like I mentioned before, I've been to Miami and no way in hell could there not be a Latino surgeon in that city.

Ms. Cranky, good of you to come up with this N/T rant site...! I needed a place to vent! Hahaha!!
You are welcome. I hope more angry Nip/Tuck fans discover it, the site is not just for Julian Haters, but they are welcome to post. I get the feeling that a lot of people will not be happy with this season's outcome.

It is nice that he is giving Bruno another chance. In some ways I'm hoping that the season survives another season, without Julian McMahon, as a show about McNamara and Vega. I would love to see the show do well, or even better sans Julian.

Unfortunately the show has been given a not too great timeslot, and Ryan Murphy is getting popular in film. Despite being a cable network, FX has been known to quickly pull the plug on shows, as it did with Lucky. I'm guessing that this might be the final seson, but I could be wrong.

Btw, do you have an e-mail address?

You mean the real deal email? Or the LJ site. My LJ site is "Pink Polish...." And I've not updated it in weeks....:(
Real e-mail, my addy is

Dr. Costa is bi. He's supposed to get in a 4 some with christian later in the season. Christian is balding this season. Did u all notice in the premeiere that when light shines on his head it goes right thru the hair? It's THINNING faster than Mary Kate Olsen!!!!!!!

Yes, I heard about him being bi. Where did you hear abou there being a foursome later this season?

Why do I get the feeling Murphy no longer cares about character development, and only about pushing the line to see how far he can he can take things before getting the show yanked off the air?

If Nip/Tuck gets yanked prematurely, Murphy will be free to make movies without having to worry about the series. In addition it will give him the bragging rights to claim that nobody was ready for his masterpiece, the same way he brags about Popular.
